My Approach to Helping

What will we do? First of all, we’ll have to figure out what the problem is exactly. Often therapy is a messy and sometimes painful process of feeling expression, problem solving, and learning new ideas for thinking and behavior. We will work to create a new narrative for you that reflects your healing, and growth. The work of therapy starts with receiving support, building trust and then seems to require a certain amount of courage, grit, and resolve. When your journey is over, and you have fresh confidence that you have what is takes to handle life\'s challenges, you get to enjoy a NEW YOU-ready to face life\'s challenges.
I have a specialty in trauma-related disorders and also work with issues like anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, ADHD, schizophrenia, and autism spectrum disorders. I can help if you\'re adjusting to loss, if you are a trauma survivor, or if you live with chronic illness.

More Info About My Practice

Typically a session will run for 50 minutes. I like to keep notes about what we talk about so that I can keep track of the progress we are making towards your goals. What we discuss is largely directed by you. I like to start out by meeting once a week. I think it helps build trust and rapport and makes it easier for us to get more quickly to your goals (and to find relief from problematic symptoms). As you make progress and start to feel better, we can begin to make our sessions less frequent. Treatment will continue until you have decided you have achieved your goals. I like to think of it this way:
You define the destination and control how fast we get there
And I take the steering wheel and direct the treatment working collaboratively with you to support you while you gain new tools for coping and develop new patterns of thinking.
