My Approach to Helping
Our communication driven world can leave you feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. It can also leave little time for the things we value most in our lives. Specific and deliberate small life changes can make your priorities, look like your priorities. I am dedicated to helping clients thrive and grow in every aspect of their lives. I am ready to accompany you on a journey of self-exploration. It is true that this journey looks different for everyone. It may be challenging at times, but I will support you every step of the way.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I love the opportunity to provide a safe space for clients to be whoever they need to be and to say whatever they need to say. I also love the strength, courage and resiliency of the human spirit. Ultimately, I love seeing the healing and growth that often occurs within a client.
How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist
I do believe that my own life struggles have made me a better therapist. My personal experiences with grief and loss, anxiety and career changes have positively influenced my ability to work with clients. I have experienced the anger that accompanies loss and the fear that accompanies anxiety. I am open to sharing my experiences with my clients. Often times this openness and transparency can remind a client that they are not alone. Additionally, it can provide a sense of comfort and safety upon which a therapeutic relationship can thrive.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
The client-therapist alliance is at the heart of my therapeutic work with clients. It is a relationship unlike any other. From the first session, I strive to provide a safe environment where trust can grow and thrive. I maintain concern and support for a client's unique life story all the while validating personal strengths. Ultimately, I see the client-therapist alliance as a collaborative one with the client in the driver's seat.
