My Approach to Helping
The truth is that therapy is process that isn’t always fun or easy (trust me if I had a magic wand I would use it). Sometimes things feel worse before they feel better and healing looks different for everyone but please do not be discouraged. The good news is, that there is hope, and you don’t have to go through whatever it is you may be going through alone. Burdens are lighter when they are shared and if right now the pain just feels too heavy, I can help you carry it. Together we can work through whatever it is you may be facing until there is room for everything else.
I am passionate about working with individuals, couples, and families from all different backgrounds. Clients have described me as caring, authentic, down to earth, and at times funny (they say laughter is the best medicine right?!). My experience includes, but is not limited to, helping clients work through trauma, depression, anxiety, self-esteem struggles, family conflict, relationship conflict, addiction, life transitions, work-related stress, anger management, and grief and loss.
My approach is client-centered, where you become part of the therapeutic process and provide the input that allows you to both set and work towards achieving your goals. I believe that you are the expert on you and that your story is unique and deserves to be heard. My goal is to create a space in which that story can be told in a safe and trusting environment without fear of judgment, while at the same time fostering desired change and helping you understand yourself at a deeper level.
My role is to offer you unconditional support while you explore and process your thoughts, feelings and experiences. It is to help you uncover patterns, provide you with thought-provoking feedback, and at times gently challenge you. Trained in EMDR if interested. Through this process you will uncover your strengths and learn new skills. You will gain awareness, understanding, respect, empathy, and acceptance toward yourself and others.
