My Approach to Helping
I help my clients turn challenges into opportunities, help them uncover new perspectives, and aid them in rediscovering their own truths to increase happiness.
I graduated with honors from Regis University with a master's degree in counseling psychology. I've worked with couples, groups, and individuals since 1991. I primarily work with adults who struggle with relationships, emotional challenges, and the ongoing struggle to lead a happy life. I rely on traditional therapeutic approaches in a compassionate and direct fashion. I also incorporate hypnotherapy, Sensorimotor somatictherapy by Pat Ogden, Relational trauma therapy from Pia Melodies work, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and dialectical-behavioral therapy.
In addition to working with clients at my private practice, I have led groups at West Pines hospital's chemical dependency and psychiatric units.
As a meditation practitioner for 15 years, I strongly affirm the value of meditation for reducing addiction, stress, depression, and anxiety. When combined with other approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, meditation makes therapy as much as 50% more successful.
