My Approach to Helping

Telepsychiatry with medications anywhere in Maryland! I especially enjoy treating mood (depressive), anxiety, and opioid use disorders, but have experience treating a large scope of diagnoses. I have always believed in providing the same level of care and service to my patients that I would want for myself. After educating patients on their diagnosis and treatment options suitable for their case, we work together to develop a unique treatment plan. Incorporating your personal preferences and beliefs is fundamental to securing the best outcomes. When there are multiple treatment options I will explain the options, present the pros and cons, provide my clinical opinion, and then let individuals decide what course of treatment they believe will be best for their unique situation. It is important to me that my patients are comfortable with the treatment plan chosen. Medications are a tool, and the potential benefits need to outweigh the risks.

I am not a provider who simply gives a diagnosis and prescribes a medication. Patients are evaluated holistically, examining lab work and diagnostic testing to rule out medical disorders that can cause psychiatric symptoms. We will also explore psychological, environmental, social, lifestyle, and other variable factors. In addition to medications, there may be alternate forms of non-pharmacological treatment available. I have been able to effectively treat many patients with psychotropic medications and collaborative psychotherapy. I genuinely see patients get better all the time and my ultimate goal is always complete remission of symptoms with no medication side effects. However, I always strive to be as honest, transparent, and pragmatic as possible when discussing options, likely outcomes, and downsides of any particular treatment strategy. This way my patients can make the best possible informed decisions.

More Info About My Practice

We are now treating patients across the state of Maryland via telepsychiatry, so you can be evaluated from the comfort and safety of your own home. Patients can schedule directly on our website and complete intake documentation electronically through our secure, HIPAA-compliant patient portal. We offer weekend and evening availability, real-time electronic medication prescribing, online (re)scheduling access for patients, secure *direct* messaging access to your provider (no relayed messages), and a commitment to no wait times (any wait is rare, outside of patient emergencies).

Baltimore Psychiatry is a small private practice providing personalized care. We wanted to make treatment as affordable as possible and our rates are so low they are often less than what individuals would pay using their private insurance. This is because we charge only about half of the going insurance reimbursement rates for follow-ups! This allows many of our patients to save money so they can focus on care. Despite our low rates, we also believe in providing thorough quality care and schedule for 90 minute evaluations and 30 minute medication management appointments. We never rush through appointments and do not believe in the overly brief 15-20 minute med checks being offered by most public practices. Once patients are in remission and doing well they will have the option for a shorter appointment at a reduced rate, but that is always voluntary.
