My Approach to Helping
Telepsychiatry with medications anywhere in Maryland! I especially enjoy treating mood (depressive), anxiety, and opioid use disorders, but have experience treating a large scope of diagnoses. I have always believed in providing the same level of care and service to my patients that I would want for myself. After educating patients on their diagnosis and treatment options suitable for their case, we work together to develop a unique treatment plan. Incorporating your personal preferences and beliefs is fundamental to securing the best outcomes. When there are multiple treatment options I will explain the options, present the pros and cons, provide my clinical opinion, and then let individuals decide what course of treatment they believe will be best for their unique situation. It is important to me that my patients are comfortable with the treatment plan chosen. Medications are a tool, and the potential benefits need to outweigh the risks.
I am not a provider who simply gives a diagnosis and prescribes a medication. Patients are evaluated holistically, examining lab work and diagnostic testing to rule out medical disorders that can cause psychiatric symptoms. We will also explore psychological, environmental, social, lifestyle, and other variable factors. In addition to medications, there may be alternate forms of non-pharmacological treatment available. I have been able to effectively treat many patients with psychotropic medications and collaborative psychotherapy. I genuinely see patients get better all the time and my ultimate goal is always complete remission of symptoms with no medication side effects. However, I always strive to be as honest, transparent, and pragmatic as possible when discussing options, likely outcomes, and downsides of any particular treatment strategy. This way my patients can make the best possible informed decisions.
