My Approach to Helping
"My name is Cheryl Perrell and I am a bilingual Spanish Speaking Licensed Clinical Social Worker. After completing my B.A. in Psychology and Social Behavior at UC Irvine, I attended Cal State Long Beach where I earned my Master's Degree in Social Work. My clinical experiences range from mental health outpatient programs, non-profit organizations, field-based community health, and private practice.
I provide a compassionate and dynamic approach to creating a healing and safe space by focusing on building trust in our therapeutic relationship. I believe our working relationship on your mental health journey will be the foundation in helping you reach your individual goals whether it is working through past trauma, generational trauma, improving relationships, self-esteem, griefloss, anxiety, depression, identity issues, codependency, communication issues, inner child work, or managing day-to-day life stressors.
As a daughter of Guatemalan immigrants, I incorporate a cultural lens and use elements from different therapeutic modalities including Psychodynamic, Client-Centered, Attachment-based, Strength-based, Mindfulness-Based, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Trauma-Informed, and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) Informed, as I believe each individual is unique as is their healing."
