My Approach to Helping

Healing occurs when individuals are able to authentically tell the narratives of their lives within a genuine and empathetic relationship. I passionately believe that each individual is the expert of his or her life and holds the tools for change. My goal as the therapist is to help each individual recognize and utilize his or her own expertise to create an enriched life. From a stance of curiosity, you and I will examine and evaluate the experiences that have created your sense of identity. We can work together to author new stories and experiences that fit your values more closely in order to experience lasting life changes. I approach the work from a narrative lens, believing that the stories of peoples' lives are their own personal truths. I also draw upon aspects of cognitive behavioral and mindfulness approaches to be able to meet clients' needs more holistically.
