My Approach to Helping
I am a clinical psychotherapist and pastoral counselor in group private practice in Crystal Lake, IL. I have more than 16 years of experience working with kids, pre-teens, teens, adults, seniors, individuals, couples, and families with various issues in life. My approach to counseling is from a very compassionate, open, and non-judgmental perspective from a person-centered clinical orientation. I meet clients where they are at the moment. I can also use Christian pastoral approach, but only upon specific request of the client. In addition to English, I speak and can provide psychotherapy in Filipino, Italian, and Spanish.
I have served as a Combat Clinical Chaplain (MOS 56A7S) with the US Army and have extensive experience working with Active Duty, Guards, and Reserves military. I am very familiar with the issues that are connected with serving the country such as war-related trauma for the individual service member and transitions and or separation issues for service members and their families.
I am also very familiar with issues facing persons in ministry (pastors, priests, etc)) and those living vowed lives (nuns, sisters, etc) and the challenges that they face and I seek to offer a collaborative solution to help them face and live their vocations. I help people in ministry reintegrate back to their pastoral life after a period of absence by providing counseling, fitness or suitability determination, and reintegration coaching upon the request of their religious superiors or the individual's own initiative.
