I talk with moms all the time that feel like everyone BUT them is enjoying motherhood! They often get irritated, anxious, and overwhelmed at the simplest of tasks and argue with their partner about EVERYTHING. They feel guilty about all their failings and wonder "What's wrong with me?"

Everything changes when you bring a baby home! And get this-- There is scientific evidence out there now that is showing that moms who have strong social support and higher satisfaction in relationships with their partners during pregnancy and postpartum are more likely to avoid postpartum depression.

This just goes to show that a solid, happy relationship with your partner is the foundation for good parenting. And asking for the support you need from your tribe helps to set you up for success.

More Info About My Practice

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, speaker, and educator, and the founder of Happy With Baby. I provide counseling and coaching for new and expecting parents, facilitates courses to help parents manage expectations of parenthood, as well as understand the developmental milestones of infants and children.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I work with new and expecting parents through the transition to parenthood and help mothers and their families that are impacted by perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (i.e. pregnancy and postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and Psychosis).

How Psychotherapy Can Help

From my experience, both as a mom and as a therapist and supporter of other new parents, there are five main things that make all the difference in making it through those first few years and beyond:
1. GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS between you and your partner, and being clear about hopes, needs, and expectations. You might think you're already great at it, but try being an effective communicator when you've gotten 5 hours of sleep over 3 days and your baby is hungry AGAIN.
2. A PLAN FOR HOW TO RUN YOUR HOME while you adjust to crazy sleep and feeding schedules.
3. SOME REAL TALK about intimacy, what's normal and how to maintain connection with your partner when you're "all touched out".
4. HOW TO STAY FLEXIBLE, both mentally and emotionally, because babies are great at throwing us curve balls.
5. HOW TO FEEL SUPPORTED by your partner and by your tribe.
