My Approach to Helping
As a licensed professional counselor, I work to create a non-judgmental environment for each person so that you feel comfortable and relaxed while working through difficult issues. I believe everyone has the power to make changes in their lives in order to make life more enjoyable and manageable again. I believe that therapy is not “one size fits all” and work with the client to create a plan that is right for them in order to achieve their goals.
I understand that opening up to someone and being vulnerable takes a lot of courage. What I tell many people who are questioning whether or not they should go to therapy is a therapist is really there just to listen objectively and to help you learn skills to resolve the issue. I truly think everyone can benefit from therapy even from what I call a “mental health check-up”. Meaning just like you would go to the dentist or your primary care physician to make sure you are physically healthy, seeing a mental health therapist can help to make sure you are using healthy coping skills and practicing good self-care.
