My Approach to Helping

I've been in private practice in both San Francisco and now Los Angeles and have a lot of experience working with people from many different backgrounds, in numerous areas of injury and subsequent growth. I've specialized in collaborating with people recovering from traumatic experiences, entering or deepening their recovery from addiction and substance use, creating and experiencing stronger more satisfying relationships and cultivating and developing the neural networking and tools for increased emotional regulation and enduring sense of wellbeing. I focus on building resiliency both in a relationship and individually. I utilize an approach, (AEDPfC) Accelerated Experiential Psychotherapy for Couples, that focuses on the underlying areas of stuckness and reactivity that couple members often struggle with when getting triggered in conflict with each other. This approach helps couple members to move from perceptions of victim-perpetrator and to understandings of what in each of his/her/their history is getting activated so as to move towards being true other on the same side desiring mutual healing and well-being. I have both trained in this approach as well as assisted in providing training for other licensed practitioners.

More Info About My Practice

I often video couple's sessions and request that members watch the sessions together in between meeting to gain an understanding of how each is expressing and receiving care differently from what they previously believed. I have found that this really accelerates couple's work and allows for change to occur more rapidly and more enduringly.
