In a word, that is what my philosophy of doing therapy is all about: helping individuals, families, couples and groups find acceptance for themselves and the world around them. My goal is to help my clients to feel safe, respected and understood to discover the areas and sources of pain that limits their ability for true happiness and growth. I believe the only way to accomplish this is to find acceptance and forgiveness within ourselves.
I offer a comfortable, warm and supportive environment to help people in their journey of self-awareness and healing. I am trained as a traditional psychodynamic psychotherapist but have extensive experience utilizing CBT, relaxation and stress-reducing skills work within the therapy setting.
I have over 20 years of experience being a therapist and I absolutely LOVE what I do!

How Psychotherapy Can Help

When someone comes to see me and has never been in therapy before, I describe the process as similar to having a massage. Most of us have had a massage at least once in our life. While we could go our whole lives without it, it is kind of nice to have once and a while. It might be uncomfortable at first and we might be self-conscious. But hopefully the masseuse is good at making us feel comfortable and welcome. Usually the massage feels really good, but sometimes there may be sore spots that need special attention. But once those spots are worked through, we feel relaxed and rejuvenated afterwards.
That's what therapy should feel like, in my opinion. I call therapy a "psychic massage".
Therapy is a journey of self-discovery, healing and growth. It can sometimes be hard to find the perfect therapist... it's kind of like dating. You have to find the right person for you. Once you feel that comfort and support, the work will help you understand and change the areas of your internal and external world which cause you pain or suffering. I am very honored to be asked to go on that journey with you and hope you find me to be a competent guide.
