My Approach to Helping

I have 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and women in a variety of settings. My goal as a psychotherapist is to be non-judgmental and highlight the strength of a person as a way to process through trauma and life events. This is a client-led process, which allows a focus on future needs and outcomes. Additionally, I incorporate a variety of techniques in order to empower clients, promote and identify resiliency, and identifyrebuild strengths.

I specialize in working with patients that have experienced trauma- whether it is emotional, physical or sexual. I focus on mental health disorders that correlate with trauma, such as PTSD, depression, and anxiety. In addition, I have experience working with the LBGTQIA+ population, military families and childrenteens with a parent that is active duty.

I am open and accepting of all beliefs, situations, feelings, and behaviors. I have built my practice around creating a truly safe and nonjudgemental space for every person I work with. Anything that you come willing to discuss will be met with an open mind. I look forward to the privilege of working with you!

More Info About My Practice

As the world becomes more technology-focused, mental health is moving into that direction. Starting Gate Teletherapy is a mental health practice that specializes in teletherapy as a way to connect with our patients.

Technology is changing the world. Teletherapy has been proven effective for all different populations, circumstances, and diagnoses in multiple studies. Teletherapy is very similar to therapy that happens in an office- appointments are scheduled ahead of time, and the only people that are present in the session are the therapist and patient. The difference? The session occurs within an online platform, allowing for flexibility, reduced wait times, and accessibility.

Teletherapy often allows for fewer missed days of school or work. Additionally, the bond of trust is essential in therapy- and many people identify that engaging in teletherapy within their own homes allows for feelings of safety and security- which in turn assist with trust between therapist and patient!
