I became a therapist to make a difference in the community. I believe we are wounded in relationship and can be healed in relationship. My goal is to provide healing to those who want to make a better life for themselves by challenging the status quo and by encouraging you to think outside the box. My job is to get you unstuck from old outdated habits and find alternatives to those habits that will serve you better. My hope is to help you find your authentic self underneath all the survival strategies, guilt, fear, anger, anxiety, sadness, or whatever might drive your choices in life, so that you can live a full life with positive and abundant connections to yourself and others. Although therapy is challenging, I think it is also about learning how to play. Play is one of the antidotes for trauma. As a psychodramatist, I use action and talk to create insight and change. Psychodrama is a combination of theater and therapy which incorporates role plays, enactments of past, present, or future events, and story in action. I believe in this work with all my heart and want to offer a nurturing and safe place where together we can create new narratives, transform old stories, and find new solutions to stubborn problems.

More Info About My Practice

I work with couples, individuals, and groups. I have a certification in psychodrama, sociometry, and group psychotherapy. Pscychodrama combines theater and therapy to create an action space which can help people out of stuck places and into creativity and spontaneity. Sociometry is the study of human connections. Relationships, belonging, being chosen, or rejected are all part of our sociometric life and when we better understand our roles we can have more choice around how we show up within relationships. Family of origin work is something that I explore with people in order to have a better idea of the beliefs people have about themselves.
My experience in team sports has helped me to appreciate the value of groups that can effectively work together and the power of the team approach. My style of therapy is a team approach and I use this approach with couples and groups. It is too hard to do everything by yourself and alone when there are so many wonderful resources in the world that makes life so much more fun and satisfying. I hope I can be one of those resources.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Going to therapy is compared to opening Pandora's box so it can be intimidating if you are one to try to keep the demons contained. Demons have a way of slipping out anyway so my philosophy is to make friends with them so they can be resources rather than monsters. Usually people choose to come to therapy when the lives they have been leading just aren't working anymore and the suffering has out weighed any benefits. Therapy is an investment and a commitment to oneself and to taking a risk that things could be better. It does mean you will be asking for help and sometimes that is the hardest part. Asking for help and being willing to receive it is a game changer and nothing is ever the same once you trust that process. We humans love to have control and therapy is a place where you learn what you have control of and what you don't. It's a place where intention matters as do you. If you like adventure and want to experience the hero's journey, then come on off that fence and give it a try.
