My Approach to Helping
My approach to therapy is centered around helping you get in tune with your body, being collaborative, respectfully curious, and supporting your unique strengths. The focus of my work is in life-transitions, the challenges fromwith military service, trauma, self-injury, and grief & loss.
To give you a little more information about my educational and training background, I received my M.A. and studied the Post Modern Therapies at Phillips Graduate Institute. I have also been trained in the Trauma Resiliency Model from the Trauma Resource Institute. I have also been trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Level I.
The passion I have in providing therapy grew from my own struggle with cutting and depression and as a result of that experience, I can honestly say I know how isolating that kind of pain can be. You're not alone.
What I can offer you is a safe place to have an open conversation to consider the stories that have narrated your life. To explore the social expectations and messages that we all receive on a daily basis about who and what we should be and how you are able to relate to yourself in your life as a result. We can look at how our use of language has the power to shape our world and our reality. Finally, with your permission and at your pace, we can support your connection and re-connection with your body and the innate potential for healing it offers.
This time belongs to you. Whatever you need therapy to be in that moment, that's what it will be. The role I play in your story, whether it's a witness, a guide, or something else I haven't thought of, gets decided by you.
You are the expert in your life.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
This is a very common and understandable position. Not only are you being asked to share some pretty personal things that can sometimes leave you in a very vulnerable place, it costs money to go and requires a lot of hard work. Additionally with the media today, there remains a stigma about what exactly mental health help means.
However, seeking counseling and therapy is nothing to be afraid of. It offers a unique opportunity to explore what's working in your life and how best to continue supporting it. It can be a safe space to look at and challenge those issues that are standing in your way of living the life you envision. Therapy can be anything you need it to be, nothing is set in stone.
