My Approach to Helping
As a child psychologist I specialize in working with pre-school through high school aged children with psychological andor neuropsychological issues. My experience includes, but is not limited to children with developmental delays, anxiety disorders, behavioral disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Additionally, I work with children and families who have experienced trauma, divorce, remarriage, adoption and other family issues.
I believe it is vital to individually tailor treatment so that it best suits the needs of the child and the family. My therapeutic approach includes play therapy, development of coping skills, and behavioral interventions in collaboration with the child's family. I offer parent training, as well.
My work in specialized schools affords me the opportunity to work alongside, and collaborate with, Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and educational teams. When necessary, I participate in CSE meetings and assist in the development of IEPs. I also work with parents to increase their ability to advocate for their children.
