My Approach to Helping

Sirtonski Wellness Space is a one-of-a-kind, creativity-focused holistic wellness clinic located in Whitby, ON, that provides a variety of services to support you and your family in living more balanced, comfortable and authentic lives.

We believe that each person is the expert in their own life and that therapy is a collaborative process to support each unique client in a way that meets their individual needs, challenges, and goals. We believe in advocacy, respect, non-judgment, and collaboration, supporting clients in increasing and maintaining mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health and functioning. Empowering our clients regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, cultural background, religious affiliation, or any other difference, is essential as we believe that each person should have the opportunity to make choices in their lives, however small or big.

Our team of professional, warm, supportive clinicians is uniquely trained in a variety of creative modalities including but not limited to:
- Art Therapy
- Play Therapy
- Dance Movement Therapy
- Sandtray Therapy
- Mindfulness
- Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy
With the understanding that many traditional psychotherapy techniques are solely focused on the use of language and verbal expression (and often left-brain focused), our team utilizes a variety of evidence-based practices integrated with other more creative practices, which results in a more 'whole-brain' approach to learning, treatment, and healing, compared to more traditional talk-therapy approaches.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

The process of psychotherapy allows us to look inwards at ourselves, who we are, and who we want to be in this world. Contrary to the myth that many people think only 'weak' people go to counseling therapy, engaging in this process takes great courage and strength to be able to do. The ability to be vulnerable can be incredibly scary, but the only way to truly move forward and move to a more comfortable place in ourselves and in our world is to embrace our vulnerability and move through it (not around it - it, unfortunately, doesn't work that way!).

Each of us can benefit from psychotherapy to assist us in moving forward through life challenges, losses, changes, and traumas. In the therapy process, we learn and apply the skills that help us to get in line and stay in line with our values and live our lives in a more comfortable, insightful, and balanced way.

When we are feeling like things in life are too much, too overwhelming, too complicated, when we regularly experience challenging feelings like anger, frustration, anxiety, low mood, disgust, or shame, or are having negative thoughts about ourselves and our actions and decisions, these often signal that we are not living authentically, and not living the way we are meant to - we are not in balance. When we cut off, hide, invalidate and minimize our feelings, we numb ourselves to life and the world around us. When we engage in behaviors like addictions (alcohol, drug, coffee, food, video games, technology, work, etc.), we limit our ability to fully connect with ourselves and the world, to be fully aware of who we are and what our purpose is in the here and now. These are challenges that we all will experience at some time or another, and having the additional professional support to help guide us can be incredibly helpful and powerful.

Call us today to learn how our services can meet you where you are at and support you in living the life you truly believe in.
