My Approach to Helping
Hello, I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor with clinical experience working with co-occurring disorders since 2011. I received my Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling and Addiction Studies from Hazelden Graduate School in 2010. I primarily specialize in working with youth and young adults who struggle with mental health andor chemical health issues, as well as life transitions and stressors related to that age group. I also specialize in offering parenting support, working with children of addictedalcoholic parents and families issues and trauma. My previous experience includes working with youth in the middle school and high school setting as well as with youth and their families in residential treatment. I am trained in and practice both EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). I utilize additional evidence-based practices such as brief solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy and am able to include multiple therapeutic approaches. This diverse approach allows individuals to develop change goals for both their mental health and chemical health concerns and to be able to achieve those goals. My approach is rooted in the idea that through a therapeutic alliance, clients will feel safe and motivated to move towards growth, wellness, and personal empowerment. I am passionate about my family and find my own balance through art, music, gardening, and crafting.
