My Approach to Helping
Briony is a psychotherapist with experience providing therapy in both individual and group settings.
Briony utilizes various techniques from CBT, Motivational Interviewing, psychodynamic, meditation, art therapy, and schema therapy to help individuals identify thought patterns, behaviors, and underlying beliefsschemas that may be attributing to their current stressors and keeping individuals in unwanted patterns.
She has worked with a variety of individuals that may have silently battled with anxiety disorders, trauma, mood disorders, life transitions, interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships, and chemical dependency. She has worked with them to increase insight, motivation, and coping.
Briony has experience working with groups and individuals with a wide variety of cultural backgrounds, sexual identities, genders, socioeconomic backgrounds, ages, upbringings, and beliefs.
Briony’s goals for therapy is to empower individuals and help them overcome obstacles preventing them from reaching their full potential and best self.
Briony provides a calm and encouraging environment where individuals can share their thoughts, feelings, and challenges without fear of judgement. She believes that establishing a safe environment for individuals to honestly express their inner thoughts and beliefs is the best way to foster and maintain healthy coping skills and promote change.
Briony was born in England and spent time in Wales before moving to Georgia, then eventually New York.
Briony enjoys music, art, exploring, and trying new experiences.
Briony received her master’s in Forensic Mental Health Counseling from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of North Georgia.
