My Approach to Helping
I have been a licensed therapist/counselor for over 35 years working with individuals, couples, families, children from 8 to 18. I have worked in outpatient clinics, day treatment, and residential settings. Most recently I worked 26 years treating adults, couples, and families with teens with mental health and substance use issues in an outpatient clinic. Now that I have opened my own practice I see myself as a coach or teacher, not just a therapist By creating a safe place where you can feel understood, I hope to help make it a little easier to trust, to be open, and willing to make the changes you want or need I feel honored to support all kinds of people feel more content with their own lives and the people in their lives.
So if something is troubling you in your relationships or are you feeling something is missing in your life and want a better sense of fulfillment or peace, we can talk. My hope is to partner with you to help you be healthier and feel happier. My belief is that I can teach and help you develop more effective interpersonal tools to show love and feel love in your important relationships as well as to yourselves.
By helping you identify and express your authentic feelings and thoughts, I believe I can help you and or your loved ones to have a better chance to feel heard and understood the way you want or need; Learn to stand up for yourself by setting better limits or finding the words to better express your feelings. Maybe you're trying to find better ways to cope with your frustrations or finding acceptance of the things you can’t change. Or maybe you are a goal-oriented person striving to be more effective in what you’re reaching for? Are you looking for a purpose or a better future? Through the use of positive psychology, motivational strategies, and a steppingstone approach to change/growth that I have developed and used over the years, I believe I can be of help to you!
