I believe that the most important first step of a successful therapeutic relationship is creating an environment that is safe and free of judgment, so that you are comfortable in allowing yourself to be completely open. During therapy sessions, I will push you as far as you are comfortable going and I firmly believe that each session should end with you feeling at least somewhat better than you felt when you walked through the door.

More Info About My Practice

I specialize in working with families and individuals who are affected by a loved one's addiction. I use my personal experience in dealing with a close relative's addiction to give clients the strength, courage, education that they need, as well as the realization that they are not the only one going through this.

I have worked with adolescents for nearly 10 years, and focus on issues such as anxiety, depression, adjustment, relationship issues, and self-esteem/confidence. While some adolescents are resistant to open up and reluctant to participate in a therapy session, over time, many of them do find the comfort and benefit in sharing their struggles.

I also work with adults, mostly regarding stress, marital issues, parenting, and family issues. I am also available for couples therapy and encourage both partners to have an open mind, as this particular type of therapy can sometimes be challenging and emotionally difficult.

My Role as a Therapist

My role as a therapist is to provide my clients with a safe and supportive environment in which they feel comfortable and confident enough to process and work through any issues they are currently experiencing. In every session, I listen fully to what my clients are telling me and watch their body language attentively to pick up on some things they may not be expressing verbally. I occasionally push my clients past their comfort zone as a way to guide them through their emotions and experiences, and assign "homework" as a way to ensure that the therapeutic process isn't only occurring during sessions. I take my role as a therapist extremely seriously and my ultimate goal is always to have the client leave the session in a better place than when they walked in.
