My Approach to Helping

Everyone experiences challenges, problems and change at some point in their lives. Learning new coping skills and developing insight, personal understanding and self-awareness are valuable outcomes of therapy that results in lasting improvement in mood and functioning and sense of well-being along with a healthier integration of thoughts, behaviours and emotions. Developing a strong working alliance that promotes trust and respect between me, as a therapist, and you as a client and results in beneficial change is a priority. During sessions I use a variety of theoretical frameworks that integrate cognitive, behavioural, client-centred and mindfulness techniques that are tailored to meet your specific needs. One of my main goals is to provide skilled and dependable therapeutic counselling with a high level of integrity that will help you succeed at personal transformation.

More Info About My Practice

For the past 17 years I have provided counselling services for clients at the Dr. Paul Schwann Centre and in private practice. Clients are provided with a safe, empathetic, caring, supportive and confidential environment where they can learn to master techniques and strategies for a range of concerns including: anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic and acute health issues, relationships, overall adjustment concerns and stress. In addition, my early work history as a Corrections Officer, a firefighter and an Emergency Medical Technician has led to a special interest in trauma work including work with people who are experiencing PTSD.
