My Approach to Helping
I have a general practice where I work with both children and adults. I believe that a safe and trusting relationship is the foundation for all therapeutic work, and I am passionate about utilizing Strength-Based approaches to achieving better Mental Health. My focus includes anxiety, depression, disorder prevention, trauma, grief, substance abuse, and adjustment to life transitions. I enjoy carpentry, hiking, biking, traveling, and generally being outdoors which is why I moved to the Austin area :)
I myself struggled with Anxiety and Depression as a young person, and I have learned much about empathy and helping others through my own trials. I hold graduate degrees in Psychology, Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. My approach to counseling uses evidenced-based strategies best suited to your needs and goals. Examples of the evidenced-based interventions I use typically include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Play Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Treatment (SFBT).
