My Approach to Helping
In my work with people I start by showing up. By that I mean I make a commitment to be present, to be myself and to be with my clients. I build relationships and out of that help folks look at their story. We live our stories everyday but the problem is that some of the strategies for living that we develop along the way end up not being very helpful to us. And sometimes are even harmful. I help my clients look at those strategies for living and the stories behind them--what they are, where they come from and what can be done about it. I don't have all the answers, and I won't pretend that I do. But I'm not afraid to be with folks in the midst of whatever is going on in their life. And I'm also not afraid to offer hope, because I think that there's real life and freedom available to all of us if we do the work to deal with the things that are getting in the way.
