My Approach to Helping
Therapy can be challenging, but should not feel like a chore. I combine evidence-based techniques with compassion — and, often, a dash of humor and irreverence — to help you live life with balance, meaning, and joy. My clients are smart, creative, and motivated individuals and couples. They may be facing difficult circumstances, such as recovering from grief or trauma, or dealing with mental illness, such as anxiety or bipolar disorder. In all cases, we work collaboratively to address their challenges and build on their strengths.
I have worked with diverse clients: adults with severe and persistent mental illness, college students with anxiety, LGBTQ trauma survivors, and couples with communication issues to name a few. As a former lawyer and law professor specializing in sex, gender, reproduction, and family law, many of my clients have challenges related to those areas.
Most people seek therapy as a means of decreasing their suffering and increasing their joy. I work with my clients to identify the best tools to do just that. Investing in your healing and growth can be immensely gratifying. If I can help, please call.
