My Approach to Helping
Benjamin Young is a psychotherapist with a broad client base and experience in a variety of settings.
He has worked with young adults, adults, and college students dealing with anxiety, depression, griefbereavement, spirituality, relationship difficulties, career uncertainty, trauma, and substance abuse.
Ben’s practice draws on person-centered and psychodynamic approaches, and he utilizes a number of other methods based on clients’ needs. These include rational emotive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness-based stress reduction. With these tools, he aims to create an environment where clients feel safe, accepted, and heard.
Ben was an active member of the disaster recovery team following Hurricane Sandy in 2012, counseling individuals and families to help them cope with the personal and community loss caused by the storm.
Ben holds an M.A. in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from NYU.
