My Approach to Helping
In this unprecedented time of isolation because of the coronavirus, I am available for online sessions rather than meeting in person. I have learned that this type of session can be just as effective for most people as in-person therapy.
I continue to believe in the innate ability of all people to heal themselves, and I view my role as their guide in this process. I try to help clients learn to believe in their own strengths and capabilities, while helping them learn new and more healthy ways of approaching their issues. I have also always had an intense fascination with families and their impact on an individual's development and functioning. Even in my work with individual clients, we often explore their issues within the context of family, both family of origin and current relationships. I continue to staunchly believe in the potential power of families to nurture, support and heal their members. I view therapy as a joint effort, in which the client and I agree upon changes and goals they desire. My job is to help them find ways to meet their goals.
