My Approach to Helping
Therapy is about conversations. Of course, a conversation requires two participants, but don't worry. I won't sit silently in therapy and stare at you. I know that people seek therapy because they need help with their relationships, emotions, past, and goals, and I provide insight and discussion in a confidential and private setting.
Sometimes pain builds up for years, and other times an unexpected issue comes out of the blue. Maybe you suddenly feel overwhelmed by your emotions or unsatisfied with your life.
These struggles can be miserable, distracting, and even unbearable. The chasm between who you are and who you'd like to be, how you experience others and how they seem to experience you, can feel unbridgeable.
I can help you live a happier life with improved self-awareness. My experience and training means that our conversations will offer depth, insight, and the opportunity for lasting change.
Therapy requires bravery and perseverance, but its outcomes can dramatically reshape your life for the better.
More Info About My Practice
Hello! If you have come to this page, you are probably thinking of talking to someone about problems in your life. Perhaps you are having difficult feelings about an important person in your life. Perhaps you are having problems at work. Or perhaps there is something else going on in your life that you want to explore because of its emotional impact or private nature.
Each person and his or her feelings are unique and different. But many of us benefit from exploring our feelings and thoughts about our problems with another person. Friends, family members and mentors are all important to each of us. But what someone who is close to you may lack is a trained ear for listening, the experience of dealing with similar problems, and objectivity in listening to you.
That is where a trained therapist, such as myself, can be helpful. I have been practicing psychotherapy for over twenty years. In that time, I have worked with people from all walks of life. I am trained and experienced in helping with anxiety, depression, chronic pain and medical illness, grief, loss, infertility, adoption, relationship issues, parenting, and life transitions such as marriage and partnership commitments, divorce, professional changes, family changes and retirement.
The feelings underlying any of these circumstances are often hidden from the self. Understanding them can be liberating and can foster personal growth. Long term or short term work, or even a few counseling sessions, can make a difference.
