My Approach to Helping

Ayhanna Williams is a Mental Health Counselor (MHC-LP) who is dedicated to her work helping children and their families overcome a variety of issues such as poor quality of infant-caregiver attachment patterns, separation anxiety and trauma. Ayhanna’s goal is to support the overall health and prosperity of her clients with empathy and compassion.

Her past work has been focused on infants, children, adolescents, adults, and their families providing each client with a support system for struggling families .

Ayhanna’s approach is focused on emphasizing therapeutic approaches to build and strengthen parent child relationships and to promote optimal child development. Her coursework specifically concentrated on relational, and trauma informed care from social emotional based perspectives such as Child Parent Psychotherapy. She has also worked within assessment and therapeutic measures such as the DC:05, DIR Floor-time Model, and “Profectum” and “Zero to Three” networks.

She has an extensive background of working with children in school, home, hospital, and office based settings. A large part of her training has been focused on assessment and consultation with various support professionals including special educators, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and pediatricians.

Ayhanna graduated with a MA in Mental Health Counseling from Adelphi University with an additional MS degree from the first federally funded Infant Mental Health and Developmental Practice masters program.
