More Info About My Practice

Many individuals I work with suffer from anxiety and want to develop their resiliency. Resiliency means having an ability to recover from or adjust to misfortune or change.

There are many ways to improve resiliency, including: taking small steps towards realistic goals, pursuing opportunities for self-discovery, believing in yourself, accepting that change is a part of life, breaking down your problem into small manageable parts, maintaining a hopeful outlook, practicing mindfulness, and connecting with friends, family, community members.

Suffering from anxiety may include some or all of the following experiences: second guessing oneself, indecisiveness, excessive worry, ruminating, physical symptoms, catastrophisizing about the future, & acting impulsively.

One way to positively cope with anxiety is to use Mindfulness techniques, for a sample see the Multimedia tab above, next to Practice Details, for my audio recording: an Introduction to Meditation & Coping with Anxiety, 6min.

I help people deal with uncertainty around life transitions: at all stages of relationships, parenting, changes in health and employment, moving, retirement, and death. I use a combination of approaches including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and the latest in brain research. I am results driven and help people feel empowered to move their life in the direction they want.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Therapy is a place where self awareness, self acceptance and maybe even self-compassion should improve. Oftentimes, after examining your beliefs, feelings, and behavior, your perspective about your experience changes. Gaining a sense of control when it comes to managing fear, stress, and sadness is another reason to try therapy. Being able to tolerate discomfort offers a shield for dealing with daily life as well as major life transitions.
