My Approach to Helping
As a recovering alcoholic, I bring to my patients the benefits of working with someone who has maintained a productive and satisfying life for over 25 years without the need of alcohol; whose personal journey informs his approach to confronting the issues associated with addiction and recovery; who firmly believes that recovery depends largely on the individual's willingness to assume full responsibility for his/her life and who, finally, believes that recovery can only be achieved through spiritual rejuvenation.
More Info About My Practice
In addition to my extensive work with adults in both clinical and private practice settings, I have spent over four years working with teenagers in the Santa Cruz City School District in Santa Cruz, CA. I implemented the Project Success program in three high schools, two of which were comprehensive with over 1,000 students each, and one which was a continuation high school with approximately 300 students. Project Success was a drug and alcohol awareness program which included teaching a 4 - 6 class curriculum to each freshman class in the three schools and conducting various student outreach and counseling programs with the entire schools. In addition, I conducted an after-school education program called 7 Challenges for students who were caught using drugs and/or alcohol on school grounds. In addition to working with kids who are having addiction issues, I have maintained a private practice with a focus on addictions for over 10 years.
