I focus on what the individual needs by offering a direct, interactive approach to therapy where we identify the source of the presenting issue, we problem solve solutions, and come up with an action plan. My philosophy is one in which I promote the individual's self-efficacy by encouragement, keeping them accountable to the treatment goals while helping them to live to their full potential.

When conducting psychological evaluations, I am able to assess cognitive functioning and diagnose ADHD in individuals of all ages and rule out any learning disabilities. Psychological testing is also utilized to assess personality and emotional functioning and thus determine an effective treatment plan based on the individual's specific needs.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Going to therapy does not mean you are weak or flawed. In fact, it takes a lot of courage and humility to acknowledge that you need help. If you had a physical ailment, you would go to a medical doctor and not think twice about it. It should be no different when it comes to problems of the heart, the mind, emotions or life stressors. Whether it be life transitions (divorce, chronic illness, death, moving, new career) or a traumatic event; you don't have to cope with it alone. Therapy is available to help you get back on your feet sooner. Receiving the support, encouragement, and validation in therapy can be a very powerful and life-changing experience.

What Makes up a Problem?

Everyone perceives and reacts to stressors in their environment differently. Their reactions depend in part on their personality, temperament, upbringing, past history, and current life circumstances. What may be a problem for one person, may not necessarily create excessive stress in another. There is no judgment in how big or a small a problem may be to any given individual. If you are struggling with something and feel you have tried all options in your 'toolbox' and have been unsuccessful in remediating the situation, then it is a problem for you and you would benefit from seeking professional help. You would benefit from getting the objective opinion and expertise of a professional to assess the situation and offer you some alternative coping skills.
