My Approach to Helping
Are you tired of telling people, “I’m fine” when in fact, you feel overwhelmed with emotions because no one understands the life circumstances you have been through and the desperate measures you require to cope? Do you feel your life and relationships are spiraling out of control because your anxiety and depression have become so unbearable that each day it seems impossible to succeed?
Success during this challenging period of the Covid-19 pandemic can feel unattainable for an individual experiencing a mental health related disorder. I have had the privilege of counseling clients during times of uncertainty and am aware of the tremendous toll the fear of the unknown takes on an individual both physically and emotionally. During these trying times it can be hard to find a support system, difficult not to allow stress to take over and impossible to ignore the subtle feeling of becoming isolated or depressed. Social Media can further become a distraction and one’s worst enemy as the seemingly perfect unaffected pandemic life of a stranger or a friend can appear so far from one’s own reality.
For the past ten years, I have worked both nationally and internationally with populations who experience complex trauma such as, Survivors of sexual, emotional and physical abuse, First Responders, Veterans, Individuals living with HIVAIDS, an individual suffering from a perinatal mood disorder, LGBTQ community, Individuals who have a substance use disorder and a psychiatric diagnosis.
I utilize Eastern and Western approaches when working with clients experiencing mental health-related disorders. I believe that therapy is not a one size fits all model and tailor my sessions to meet my client’s specific needs through evidence-based practices and mindfulness approaches. The hardest step in pursuing therapy is realizing that one needs help. By recognizing this fact, you have already conquered a considerable challenge. I look forward to meeting you and having the privilege of assisting you as you navigate your journey of healing.
