My Approach to Helping
As a mental health clinician, I strive to provide my clients with a healing environment where they can put aside the demands of their lives to focus on themselves as they work toward resolution or adjustment to their current circumstances. I pull from multiple models to customize treatment to meet the needs of each of my unique clients.
More Info About My Practice
I accept Cigna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Tricare and Healthchoice insurances at this time. For clients without insurance I offer a rate of $85 per clinical hour.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I specialize in working with people of all ages who have neurological differences such as ADHD and Autism Spectrum diagnoses. I have attended numerous trainings to educate myself on various models such as Michelle Garcia Winner's Social Thinking and Dr. Tony Attwood's CAT Kit to be able to educate those on the Autism spectrum about their emotional range, how to identify their emotional state, and then how to effectively regulate it. I also work with family members to guide them toward acceptance of the family member with neurological differences, always with the ultimate goal of each family system embracing a new way of viewing and communicating about the emotional world.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
Cognitive psychology long ago determined that with effective intervention, neurological pathways can be restructured to create a happier emotional state. I was inspired by that research as an undergraduate and set out to create a career using my knowledge of psychology to impact the lives of my clients. Well trained psychotherapists can navigate a path with their client to open a new world of growth and self acceptance, self motivation, and open, trusting relationships with others.
