My Approach to Helping

Do you feel overworked, over-stressed, and overwhelmed? Many of my clients come into therapy struggling with some form of stress and anxiety, particularly stemming from an unease and dissatisfaction with how their life is going. Many feel “stuck” and uncertain on how to handle these persistent, nagging feelings — not knowing how to best manage their emotional well-being. This is where I come in to help guide and clarify your values and direction, which often involves confronting the difficult feelings and issues in your life, and freeing you to get back on course with the things that matter most to you.

I have extensive experience working with professionals in highly demanding career fields, especially those dealing with high levels of stress and anxiety in their job. I specialize in working with Type-A, high achievers, particularly those struggling with issues such as worklife balance, maladaptive perfectionism, and impostor syndrome. I also specialize in treating interpersonal and relational issues such as social anxiety, shyness, low self-esteem, and relationship OCDanxiety that can affect dating and commitment in intimate relationships.

I provide a compassionate, curious, and non-judgmental environment where we explore your unique concerns and struggles. I view therapy as a collaborative process and will work with you to develop ongoing and flexible goals to make the most out of each therapy session. Through the course of therapy, I will help you build effective coping skills based on mindfulness, self-compassion, and resiliency so that you feel better equipped to handle whatever stressors and challenges that may come up. Overall, my hope is to enhance your self-awareness and emotional well-being to live a more satisfying and meaningful life.

My treatment approach is informed by various evidence-based practices in psychotherapy, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Utilizing an integrative approach, as well as considering salient cultural factors that applies to you, my aim is to tailor the most appropriate interventions to meet your specific, individual needs.

More Info About My Practice

I also offer couples counseling, where I help partners navigate issues pertaining to communication, intimacy, and emotional connection. I utilize the evidence- and skills-based approach, Gottman Method, to inform my treatment planning and interventions. I also incorporate elements of Attachment Theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy in my work with couples. The goal of couples counseling under the Gottman Method is to help couples build new habits in their relationship to replace old ones that have not been working. By doing more of the right things, and doing less of the relationship-damaging things, you can make your relationship grow in the direction of greater intimacy and satisfaction. Couples who I’ve worked with have found that these new skills help them gain a greater sense of awareness, empathy, and connectedness within their relationships. With that said, though, I’ve found that my services have also been useful for those wanting to end their relationship in a thoughtful and caring manner. Our first few sessions together will help us to determine the appropriate goals for you and your partner.
