My Approach to Helping
There are many reasons people decide to start therapy. Are you overwhelmed? Having a hard time controlling your emotions? Feel lost or need help with a goal? Are you a mom who constantly feels guilt that you aren't good enough? Are you having relationship issues? Are you dealing with chronic pain or grief? Reaching takes strength and shows a persons desire to heal and improve. We all deserve a time for ourselves to feel heard, understood and supported while we work towards positive changes.
Therapy is a way to help you feel better and in control of your life. I'm not here to “fix” or cure you but instead I will teach, support, nurture, and explore with you to help you work through issues. Therapy can be uncomfortable and takes work. I’m here to walk this journey with you and want this to be a safe, supportive environment for you. We will work on a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Together we’ll work to find a balance in your life and give you the tools to learn to cope.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a specialized technique used to help clients heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Many clients like EMDR therapy because it does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue. This technique helps the brain into a natural healing process. I combine EMDR with traditional talk therapy. More information about EMDR can be found at emdria.org
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
You are probably reading through these therapist profiles because you (or someone you love) is wanting help. I know this is a big step. You have to consider cost or insurance, location and hours. Its understandable why starting therapy can be overwhelming. But don't let me discourage you!
The reason therapy works is often because of the relationship with your therapist. Personalities and therapist approaches just have to click. I find that when someone says "therapy didn't work for me" it is often because the therapist just didn't meet their needs. I love what I do because I see people get relief and improve so I will always help a client if I feel I'm not a good fit.
