My Approach to Helping
I help people manage stress, anxiety and depression, and some of the specific situations and challenges that are attached to these issues. My areas of specialty include helping clients who suffer from insomnia or significant sleep disturbance, which is often related to anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders. If you are dealing with insomnia, you understand how this negatively impacts your quality of life. Sleep disturbance causes a great amount of distress, often creating anxiety about even getting into the bed each night.

LET'S TALK ABOUT INSURANCE!
I am not in-network with insurance, but if you have a PPO insurance plan you have the ability to see an out-of-network provider. I will provide you with documentation to submit to your insurance company in order to receive reimbursement, which is often very significant. I encourage you to contact your insurance company and ask what the reimbursement rate is for individual therapy as out-of-network options are often more affordable than expected!
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
If you are on the fence about going to therapy, you are not alone! There are some very common reasons people continue to suffer with significant issues and do not get help. These are some of the most common that I hear:
"I should be able to deal with this on my own. Everyone has stress to manage!"
"My life or circumstances are not that bad - there is no reason I should be depressed. I can't justify going to therapy."
"It's not that big of a deal to lose some sleep. I am used to it as I have not been sleeping well for years. I can deal with it."
"I am embarrassed that I am so 'crazy' that I have to go to therapy and I am worried about what other people will think."
Even with so much more education about treating mental health disorders and a reduced stigma, people still are hesitant to seek help. Would you be hesitant to seek help if you were having physical pain? So why should it be different if you are experiencing emotional pain? I encourage you to reach out and have a discussion with a therapist that you feel connected to and find out how heshe might help.
The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
I utilize CBT-I to treat insomnia and sleep disorders. While every person is different, the average length of time to complete this treatment will be 8 weeks. Please keep in mind that your specific plan may require more time, or possibly less than 8 weeks. A key component in the success of this treatment is you! If you are willing to actively participate and follow the plan, we can likely make positive changes. You have been suffering for a long time!
