My Approach to Helping
At this moment you are taking a brave and courageous step towards becoming the person you are capable of being. Something inside of you is already moving you towards a greater sense of well being. We all face challenges in life that can at times feel overwhelming. These challenges, although often unpleasant and uncomfortable, can become the very source of personal transformation and healing.
As a health psychologist, my goal is to help you to transform the suffering in your life into true resilience and live a life of authentic happiness. Together we will work to help you better understand where you become caught in unhelpful ways of thinking or behaving. We will implement your strengths in a way that will not only help you to overcome challenges, but will help you to create a life filled with purpose and passion.
I specialize in working with people who have health concerns that cause stress and with people who experience stress which affects their health and well-being. I also work with caregivers and medical professionals who are experiencing burnout. Together we will work to develop a self-care plan that is effective, comprehensive and takes into consideration your individual life situation creating win-wins, so that caring for those that matter most includes caring for yourself.
My compassion, curiosity and sincere interest in understanding your unique experience is my strength. I use interventions best suited to meet your specific personal growth and wellness needs while maintaining the use of empirically supported mind-body interventions. I am board certified in biofeedback, a means of self-regulation which is helpful in managing anxiety and certain forms of chronic pain. I have completed a mindfulness teacher training practicum and have formal clinical hypnosis training.
I have over nine years of experience working with people who have chronic medical conditions and fifteen years of experience as a therapist. I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling Services from Rider University and completed my Doctoral training in Clinical Psychology from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition to providing therapy, I teach mindfulness, provide clinical supervision, consultation, community outreach, biofeedback mentoring and wellness and resilience workshops for hospitals and medical practices.
