My Approach to Helping
Life has many challenges, it's how you grow from your past that defines who you are in life. You may feel alone, misunderstood, and unfulfilled with your life or personal relationships. Perhaps you're having intense negative emotions. People typically enter therapy when they are in distress, although it's usually the long-term and underlying struggles that concern them the most. Initially, we will work quickly to address your immediate pain and provide relief. As therapy progresses, our focus may shift so you develop more positive and enriching relationships with yourself and others.
My therapeutic approach focuses on the interpersonal dynamics that impact your daily experience. I focus on helping individuals become unstuck from depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and intense negative emotions.
In therapy, we look for the behaviors, attitudes, and patterns that protected you in the past but no longer serve a purpose. Therapy is a process we experience together, we are all recovering from something, we are all growing and becoming.
More Info About My Practice
In response to the Coronavirus situation, I will be temporarily moving from office-based visits to telephone and video sessions.
The current situation with the spread of the Coronavirus, and the potential for individuals to contract the Covid-19 infection, is resulting in recommendations on the part of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and State Health Departments for senior citizens to minimize contact with other individuals outside of their homes as well as for the general population to limit social contacts and unnecessary participation in large group settings. As a result, in an effort to safeguard the health of my clients, as well as to participate in the important effort to reduce the community spread of the Coronavirus, I will be temporarily moving from office-based visits to telephone and video sessions.
Should you have a scheduled appointment with me, or should you want to make an appointment with me, please email me so that I can send you instructions as to how to request and set up a telephone or video appointment with me.
Please note – there are some individuals who have become very anxious about the Coronavirus situation. Please keep in mind that there is no need for anyone to panic about this situation. I recommend that we all follow the CDC guidelines which will be very helpful in reducing the community spread of the Coronavirus and in minimizing any risk of becoming ill. Please keep in mind that the vast majority of those individuals who do contract the Coronavirus will not have a serious illness. The elderly and those with cardiac and pulmonary health conditions however are a more vulnerable population and need to make especially sure that they take precautions against contracting Covid-19.
Working together, and following the recommendations of your primary care physician along with the CDC guidelines, we will get past these difficult days. We have all experienced difficult times in our lives – and we will move beyond this difficult time as well.
