My Approach to Helping
I’ve great conviction that we all naturally lean towards healing, wholeness, and completeness. My role is to ride alongside you as we look at the things that might be getting in the way of that.
I’m an “integrative” therapist – with education and experience that grounds me in sociology, East-West psychology, philosophy and religion, cultural anthropology, astronomy, theater, and the performing arts. I’ve always been drawn to positive, restorative change in our society, and have personally experienced and observed transcendent self-growth through different forms of therapy.
I will draw from depth psychology, psychodynamic and psychoanalytic theories, post-modern theories, Gestalt, and Attachment-based perspectives. Practically, this means that some moments, I’ll be attentively listening – other times, I’ll gently challenge a thought or idea --- and yet other times, I’ll offer coping skills and help ground us in the moment. The result of our unique relationship is a holistic form of therapy, tailored to your needs.
The short of it is: I enjoy working with anyone, and as in life – some relationships just ‘fit’ more than others, and the only way to truly affirm this is to reach out and see if I\'d be a good fit for you.

I am also a psychedelic integration therapist, with years of experience in harm reduction settings, clinical trials, research, and public health reform.
I combine a social justice lens with integral psychotherapy in order to support people seeking growth through a psychedelic or transpersonal lens. I\'m positioned firmly in within harm reduction, non-abstinence, and safer-use principles of substance use, and overall, these principles also form the bedrock of how I work with others -- humanist, collaborative, and with authenticity.
What I Usually Need to Know to Help
Because my approach is "integrative" (or integral) -- I will take as much information as you feel comfortable offering. If I need more information, I'll ask! That being said -- we'll work with what we have on any given day. Specifically, I would want the 'basics' of you and your family of origin, and your family of choice (or desired family), the relationships or ideas about relationships in your life currently (with yourself, a partner, professors, coworkers, the world in general, and so on).
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
I'm a firm believer that we intuitively react strongest to that which we learn the most from -- relationships, ideas, work projects, hobbies.
In spirit of that, I believe that our relationship is the primary container or channel through which the work occurs, and we often know fairly quickly if we would like to be present with someone. So, after the due diligence of ensuring your therapist is above board and credentialed, use your intuition about them. Will they be a fit? Do you trust them? Do they seem authentic to you? Only you can really answer these for yourself.
The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
Therapy is an experience unique to each individual -- so there is little 'rule' for the length of therapy. Goals can be reassessed, life changes suddenly, money gets tight -- things just happen that impact our therapy experience.
If you're looking just to practice some basic skills (i.e. to calm down in a heated moment, to recenter one's focus when distracted, and so on), your experience could be shorter. If you're looking to work on some more entrenched and older patterns of behavior, this would take longer. If you've a lifetime of experiences to decompress and look over, who knows -- it really is up to you.
If we end up on a every-other-week basis for meeting, this might take longer; but this might fit your goals and needs better. It really just depends!
