My Approach to Helping
Welcome to my professional profile! I am excited that you are thinking about seeking therapy for yourself or your child. Therapy can be a decidedly effective tool for people looking for help with a particular, demanding challenge, as well as for those who want to gain a better understanding of their life and behavior patterns. I will offer an encouraging, supportive setting for you or your child to examine feelings, situations or thoughts that seem to be confusing or significant.
I prize the therapeutic relationship as a distinct and highly valuable tool for change and healing. I will utilize my array of experiences to offer a holistic approach to therapy that will integrate creative as well as more traditional methods to help you gain insight and ultimately make positive changes to your personal relationships and life.
I place the acceptance and commitment therapy perspective in high regard because it enables us to embrace the person we currently are while concurrently seeking change. I look forward to offering your or your child personalized therapy by applying various methods as they seem appropriate.

My Role as a Therapist
I believe my role as a therapist is to figure out how to best help you help yourself. That means that we will understand together how you have become the person you are in order to best understand how to navigate the gap between who you are now, and who you want to be. By exploring the past and "processing" negative emotions such as anxiety, depression, anger, fear, etc., we will be able to help you make more intentional and mindful decisions in your life. This is very different than allowing your sub conscious to make your decisions for you. Over time, it is my hope for you that you will feel more empowered to take steps to make the type of life you want for yourself.
Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
Clients do not always find the right fight when they choose a therapist for the first time. Selecting a therapist requires much of the same time and effort as selecting another type of professional to help you do something, such as finding a contractor, or a tutor. However, benefiting from therapy involves much more than simply hiring someone to do a great service. Most often, you will be discussing and expressing the most intimate details of your life to your therapist, and may even share things that literally no one else on the planet knows. This type of deep emotional work requires total comfort with your therapist including feeling a sense of ease with their personality, business practices, therapy location, and all around "vibe." Though you may have not yet found this type of relationship with your therapist, I encourage you to keep looking until you do.
