My Approach to Helping

Dr. Hempel is a psychologist specializing in biofeedback, counseling, advocacy, and psychological evaluations. She earned her Doctorate from Loyola University Chicago, where she also taught graduate classes. Dr. Hempel has worked with children, adolescents, and adults since 2001. She also has experience working with a variety of emotional and behavioral disorders. Her therapeutic approaches include biofeedback, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness based therapy. Dr. Hempel believes in a holistic approach with a large emphasis placed on the mind-body connection. As a result, patients report feeling more in control of their lives.

Dr. Hempel also specializes in biofeedback. Biofeedback is a well-researched therapeutic procedure in which individuals are taught to focus and calm their bodies by self regulating. Research has shown that biofeedback is helpful in treating a variety of conditions including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, ADHD, chronic pain, headaches, migraines, insomnia, hypertension, and many medical conditions.
