My Approach to Helping
As a bicultural and bilingual (English & Spanish) therapist part of my practice involves examining the cultural and social factors affecting individuals. I recognize that therapy is not one size fits all, so I attempt to tailor my approach to help empower each client to make changes that align with their values and goals. I enjoy partnering with individuals who are interested in broadening their understanding of difficult emotions and experiences to find new ways to cope and regain a sense of stability.
I specialize in working with adults struggling with everyday stressors andor mental health concerns. Much of my work has focused on treatment of mood disorders, anxiety, adjustment to life transitions, and multicultural identity issues. Working in both private practice and community mental health has helped me gain an appreciation for strengths-based therapy interventions, which are about empowering the individual, not just working towards symptom management. My approach consists of an integration of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness Training that helps individuals reflect on their readiness for change and learn how to ultimately take action.
