On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

It can be awkward, or even scary walking into a therapist's office for the first time and sharing things that are personal, but the end result can be so freeing. I am here for you to tell them whatever it is you need to tell them. You will not be judged, or invalidated. Your feelings matter and I will honor that. Working through your problems can set you up with skills for dealing with future problems that may arise. While friends and family can provide a great source of support, there are just some topics that are best shared with someone that is neutral. Such neutrality allows you to figure out what is best for you.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Therapy does not mean you are flawed. People go to therapy for many different reasons. What I find most often is that people coming to therapy do not want to continue repeating the same patterns and want something more or different from their lives then what they are currently experiencing. Perhaps they are having problems with their family, a partner/spouse, a classmate/co-worker, in-laws, or in-congruencies with what they believe to be true and what they are experiencing. Therapy is a place to talk through your experiences and find the inconsistencies in your story that may be creating conflict whether it is internal or external.

Taking a personal inventory of your life is something that takes a great deal of courage. Wanting to create change for yourself and/or your life is something that takes a lot of strength. Change can be hard, but can also be very rewarding.
