My Approach to Helping
I am a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapy (LAMFT). Although I have a formal education, so much of my “training” has come from my own life experiences. I have gone through my own divorce, as well as lived through multiple family divorces. I have witnessed abuse in all its forms. I have had financial problems, and I have encountered infidelities. I realize that I had to take the journey I took and make some mistakes to get to where I am today and it was all worth it. Through all of it, I am stronger; that is what I want for you!
Having lived through it all and thrived because of it, I follow my empathic heart. I tend to work from a collaborative standpoint with my clients, both individuals, and couples. It is crucial that everyone feels heard and validated in their feelings. I do utilize EFT, as well as The Gottman Method when working with couples, but I feel the therapeutic alliance between the therapist and the client is of the utmost importance. It is imperative that my clients feel secure, comfortable, and safe in a non-judgmental environment; we all have problems, no one is immune or above having them. There is no shame in asking for help or admitting we need a hand from time to time.
Having been in therapy myself during a couple of difficult times in my life, I understand how daunting, and a little scary, starting therapy can be. I look forward to working with you, in a partnership, along your journey.
