My Approach to Helping
Welcome. Starting therapy is a big step that takes courage. These are uncertain times and right now everyone could use support and a safe place. I have over 10 years of experience working with people who are dealing with trauma, anxiety, sadness, life changes & relationship stress. We are all complex & often what feels like it should be a “simple fix” can be frustratingly difficult to change, especially in these stressful times. In therapy, you can get to know yourself more fully and understand what is getting in the way of how you want to be living so that you can live a more congruent and peaceful life.
When you have negative experiences- including trauma- that are not fully processed- it can feel like you are in a “loop” or re-experiencing the same feelings or reactions from the past. I use EMDR- a research based tool to process trauma and the related beliefs and reactivity so you are more fully in the present.
It is important to have a safe, supportive & encouraging place to learn more about yourself & your strengths as well as what you want to change. I encourage the creativity, insight & self-awareness that is natural in all of us. Whatever you are dealing with, we will work in a way that is specific to you & your situation.
