My Approach to Helping
It is natural for a part of us to not want to engage in therapy, and sometimes we have to tune into the part of us that is saying it could be worth trying.
My name is Amanda Petric, and I strive to establish a compassionate, patient, and accepting environment where individuals can gain new information, strengthen their coping strategies, and recover at their own pace. I assist individuals with recognizing their strengths, embracing self-compassion, and self-learning in a way that is non-judgmental. I also assist individuals with moving from "sticky" points and recovering from trauma.
I have an eclectic therapeutic style, pulling from my educational background at Ohio State University, professional training in strength-based and solution-focused brief therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), somatic and yoga interventions, and creative and expressive interventions such as art, body movement, and mindfulness. I am certified in EMDR therapy, certified in Telebehavioral Healthcare, and a Registered Yoga Teacher. I specialize in the following areas: trauma, sexual violence, stress management, self-esteem, self-acceptance, LGBTQIA+ issues, depression, anxiety, and adjustment issues.
I have been working in social services since 2010, and I have been providing therapy as a licensed clinical social worker since 2015.
