My Approach to Helping
My approach to therapy is influenced heavily by my education and my experience and I focus on meeting the client where they are at, helping them to understand and use supports that they have around them and using both short and long terms goals. Making a decision to see a counselor and to come in for sessions can be a very difficult decision for clients, so I always want to make sure that they feel that they are in a safe space in order to build up a rapport with me as their therapist. I use approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral, Culturally Sensitive, Multicultural, Trauma Focused and Mindfulness as tools with my clients in order to help them get the most out of their therapy.
About Me: I understand and know how important it is to know a little about myself when you are choosing a counselor. I have lived most of my life in the Pacific Northwest, most living in Washington and Idaho, but I consider my hometown to be Moscow, Idaho. I enjoy reading, watching Asian movies and dramas (I am trying to learn Chinese), listening to various types of music, taking walks with my dog and exploring new places to eat around the Treasure Valley. I also enjoy taking trips with my husband to explore ghost towns as we have created a list of places we would like to visit. I am a calm and contemplative person both in my personal and work life and am a good listener. I hope that by knowing a little about me helps you in making your decision when choosing a counselor.
