My Approach to Helping
My therapeutic approach is deeply rooted in Psychodynamics, DBT, and ACT. Therapy is not one size fits all and as such, my goal is to use my therapeutic approaches and implement them appropriately to each individual client and their identified needs. I cannot run the race for my clients, but I can and will run alongside each of you, supporting you and cheering you on until you feel you are able to run the race alone.
In my free time, you can find me listening to music sitting by my fire pit, exploring new restaurants with friends and family, catching some shut eye with my fur baby, or catching up on the latest episodes of Ancient Aliens.
More Info About My Practice
I am a New Jersey Licensed Associate Counselor, a member of the American Counseling Association and a member of the Black Mental Health Alliance. I received a Masters degree in Counseling and an Ed.S (post graduate degree) in Professional Counseling from Seton Hall University. Additionally I received a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Wilmington University. I have extensive experience working with women’s trauma, mood disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders and dual diagnosis in both a higher level of care Intensive Outpatient setting and in a Community Counseling setting. Additionally, I have extensive experience in diagnosing disorders, obtained through my varied experience as a therapist and as a youth and adult outpatient program coordinator. Currently I serve populations ages 14 and up.
As a therapist, my goal is to create a safe, welcoming space for my clients to share their story in a non-judgmental environment, where they can feel heard, understood, and validated. While providing support to clients, I will assist in identifying the stage of change the client is in, so collaboratively we are better able to identify measurable and achievable goals. My goal is to aid my clients in identifying the root of their difficulties, gaining insight about those difficulties, accepting what was and what is, and supporting each client in determining a beneficial plan to move forward in their lives and achieve their identified goals.
