My Approach to Helping
We, as human beings, are all on a path through life dealing with our own unique conflicts (be it interior or exterior) and struggles from our lives before this point. Every day is a new chance to devote effort to ourselves with a goal to make ourselves better than the day before. We are all striving to be the absolute best version of ourselves we can be, even if your version looks different than the next person's. Even if you are unsure of your own matters of contention and unable to see the prospects of your future, I am dedicated to starting or continuing on this journey with you.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 5 years of experience at the Master's Level and 3 years of experience working in a clinical setting under the supervision of a Psychiatrist along with a diverse multi-disciplinary team. I have 2 years of experience working directly with sex workers, persons with HIV AIDS, all persons affected by substance use, abuse, and addiction, including pregnant women and new mothers, and persons in the criminal justice system for offenses ranging from traffic citations and misdemeanors to capital and first-degree felonies.
I am most experienced with harm-reduction education, psychoeducation, talk therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness breathing, mindfulness meditation, crisis intervention and crisis therapy, strength's perspective, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I make a point of keeping abreast of the most current research and publications and am very eager to continue my education through trainings, seminars, and conferences. I am interested and enthusiastic about learning new therapies, techniques, and any strategies that may help me to better support my patients.
My passion is to work with underserved populations, however, my aspiration is to endeavor on a journey to holistic peace with victims of human trafficking, persons affected by substance use and abuse, persons with a history of trauma, and ALL persons needing guidance on their path to healing and recovery.
